Dallas ‘Real Housewives’ and ‘Divas & Daughters’ news

September 8th, 2010

First came the news from Bravo's Andy Cohen that the Real Housewives network hasn't "hit it" with the right group of Texas women -- seriously?? In all of Texas you can't find some Teresa/Danielle magic? -- then came a Facebook message from the producers of Dallas Divas & Daughters. It seems the show is indeed trying for a second season, a process they call "cast contingent." (I previously reported that the Style Network has not revealed plans for a second season. Perhaps I stand corrected.)

The producers say they are taking the show in a "different direction." If you are interested in giving Reality a shot, click here for the Facebook information page.

Dallas stylist Doniphan Moore’s 5 tips for doing flowers at home

September 2nd, 2010

If you loved the blooms in the September FD Luxe home tour of Susan Baten's Turtle Creek manor, thank Doniphan Moore. Here are some D.I.Y. floral tips from the up-and-coming Dallas interiors stylist.

1. Work with what you have. "Choose flowers that fit containers you already own and love to help tell a story." Sometimes the perfect vase only needs a single flower.

2. Choose blooms that last. "If you put flowers in your house and they're dead the next day, it wasn't worth the mess and expense."

3. Put flowers in the rooms you really live in. "It's nice to have flowers in the entry hall, but if you never see them, what's the point?" Moore loves to place arrangements in the master bathroom because "we all spend so much time in there."

4. Go easy on mixed arrangements. "Flowers should look natural so don't over-think arrangements and work them to death." Cut flowers fresh, drop them in a container and let them sit. "If you mess with them too much they start looking contrived."

5. Know these tricks of the trade. Splurge on "big face" flowers such as hydrangeas and peonies when available. If you use roses, a dozen is never enough: "More is more with roses." Create a quick, fragrant table arrangement with stacks of Eucalyptus. (Bonus, it looks just as pretty when it dries.) For fall, there's nothing chicer than an artful arrangement of limbs and branches from the garden.

Better yet, call in a professional!
